The California Department of Education (CDE), Early Education Division (EED) is excited to announce weekly Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) office hours. The EED will host virtual office hours on Wednesday afternoons targeted to local educational agencies (school districts, charter schools, and county offices of education) so that attendees can come and ask questions about UPK implementation. The first 15 minutes will be a quick review of UPK and latest developments. Registration will be limited to 200 participants per session.
Please send questions in advance in the questions and comments section of the registration. If they’ve reached full registration and you still have a question please register for the following week, or email them at UPK@cde.ca.gov.
Watch the recording of our Celebrating Transitional Kindergarten (TK) event. This 45-minute event shared and celebrated stories and experiences of TK practitioners and parents and provided an overview of the updated TKCalifornia website which includes resources and information for TK teachers, administrators, and parents.
Local educational agencies (LEAs), early childhood educators and administrators, and the California Department of Education (CDE) would like to gather information on curriculum utilized in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten. The purpose of this survey is to collect data on the curriculum currently used throughout the state by county offices of education, districts, and schools for TK and K. As part of the state’s Prekindergarten to Third Grade (P-3) efforts, the CDE is updating the California Preschool Learning Foundations, the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) observational tool, and the corresponding California Preschool Curriculum Frameworks. Through this, the CDE will be addressing stronger alignment and a framework to make a P-3 connection across the standards, DRDP, and curriculum.
The information collected in this survey will provide baseline data of what curricula is currently utilized statewide and help inform this project. All questions on this survey are required.
If you have any questions, please contact SurveyEED@cde.ca.gov.
