Students start new school year in Brea

09.10.2012 | The Orange County Register

Thousands of students headed back to campuses around the Brea Olinda Unified School District on Tuesday.

And for the first time, the first day of school was also teachers’ first day back on campus, said Superintendent Skip Roland. With furloughs, teachers had no prep days to get into their classrooms before school bells rang.

Also new for the Brea district is the transitional kindergarten classes at Country Hills and Arovista elementary schools offering early education options for younger children.

New at Fanning Elementary is Principal Susan Metcalf, who moves to the district from Travis Ranch School in Yorba Linda. “I look forward to a wonderful year getting to know the community and the great traditions at this school.”

La Habra schools welcomed students back to school last week.
